Family fun jam-packed half-term!

October half term is coming up fast and we’ve got lots of activities planned for all the family to enjoy in Solihull town centre. Whether you fancy channelling your inner ghoul, want to learn some impressive magic skills or just watch others being skilful, you can do it all right here at the end of October!

Spooktacular Solihull

Enjoy some spooktacular activities and entertainment in Solihull town centre throughout the weekend of Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th October. With face painting for the children and musical entertainment shows for all from our resident zombies you’ll be dancing in the streets, and we encourage you to dress up in your finest Halloween attire!

 

Celebrate Diwali

Diwali celebrations will be taking place from 1pm in the town centre on the afternoon of Saturday 26th with non-stop family fun, great shopping experiences and plenty of excitement. Try your hand at amazing rangoli making workshops or join in a Diwali Mela, whatever you do it’s bound to be a colourful and joyous occasion!

There’ll also be the chance to celebrate Diwali at The Core from 12 noon – 4pm. Join Art at the Heart CIC for a fabulously creative arts and family fun day. The day is elephant-themed and you’ll have the chance to help out making elephant artworks. You can also create Diwali themed puppets, giant rangoli patterns and community murals inspired by traditional Indian miniatures.

 

Sari Sari Night

Dress to impress and sparkle on this starry, starry Saturday night to continue the Diwali celebrations with a lantern parade through Solihull town centre. After meeting at The Core at 4pm, the parade will set off at 5pm heading through Solihull High Street and Touchwood. If you don’t have a lantern, try a glowstick or your mobile phone!

 

Shadow Puppetry

There’s a chance to sit down, relax and enjoy the skills of an expert team of puppeteers at The Core on Thursday 31st at 2pm. Indigo Moon Theatre’s version of the Jungle Book is inspired by the poetry and spirit of Rudyard Kipling’s original books. Mowgli’s daring jungle adventures are brought to life by Indigo Moon Theatre with inventive shadow theatre, original music and colourful digital projection.

 

Halloween Pumpkin House

Visit Prunella Pumpkin’s School of Wizardry at Touchwood for some mysterious magical mayhem! Join the team daily from Monday 28th October to Sunday 3rd November from 11am – 4pm for lessons in the rules of witchery and wizardry, spooky school histories, hat and wand making workshops, plus spell and potion making. Booking is advisable.

 

Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens

Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens will be open every day from 26th October to 3rd November with a selection of drop in sessions and bookable workshops including ‘Woodland Wizards’, ‘Woodland Adventures’ and a ‘Spooky Disco’. There’s also a new children’s play area to visit!

 

Resorts World

There are a spooktacular series of events from Monday October 28th to Thursday October 31st at Resorts World! Immerse yourself in the eerie charm of The Addams Family and snap a free printed photo with the characters Morticia and Gomez! Don’t miss out on amazing Halloween balloon models, along with glitter tattoos and a craft workshop. There will also be thrilling circus skills shows with a Halloween twist and ghostly performance. Newlands Bishop Farm

Spend a fun-filled day at Newlands Bishop Farm’s Pumpkin Patch! Wander through the scenic tipi field adorned with pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. Kids can grab their own wheelbarrows and embark on a pumpkin-picking adventure. Say goodbye to messy pumpkin carving at home – carve at the farm and they’ll handle the cleanup! Plus, test your skills with a mini game around the farm and win a prize. It’s a day of family-friendly autumn fun you won’t want to miss!

 

Halloween at the Barn (at Berryfields)

Search for your favourite pumpkin from a huge range of orange, white or green, classic, novelty or giant pumpkins and squashes in every shape and size. The perfect activity throughout October!

Head to the Halloween shop to stock up on your spooky essentials, go eco-skating on the synthetic ice rink surrounded by sparkling lights and spooky faces and go axe-throwing in the dedicated axe-throwing cages.

Finish your experience at an all-day street food and bar area serving breakfast baps, loaded chips, stone baked ‘focizza’ (focaccia-based pizza) and draught beer, wine, cocktails, hot chocolate and soft drinks – all from 10am.
