Mell Square's Guide to the Summer Holidays!

The school holidays are here, and you can feel the excitement in the air here at Mell Square! The holidays are the perfect opportunity to spend some valuable family time together, and we’ve got lots to keep the kids (and parents!) entertained this summer…
Taste Collective
First things first, it’s going to be hot this holiday, and there’s no better remedy for that than some al-fresco dining. Especially how they do al-fresco at Taste Collective, our outdoor street food offering with an ever-changing roster of vendors. This month visit Cleopatra’s Kitchen and be whisked away to Egypt or indulge in Melting Wheel Pasta where Italian dishes are finished in a huge wheel of cheese.
Snack stop
Coffee and a sweet treat sound good? We have a host of coffee shops here at Mell Square including Caffè Nero and Costa as well as our wonderful independents like Café Isabella and Brew Twenty Three. We suggest picking up an iced coffee for you and a babyccino for the little ones before hitting the shops.
Let’s go shopping
Shop sustainably whilst raising money for charity by visiting Barnardo’s and British Heart Foundation where the kids can spend their pocket money on some pre-loved toys, books and games.
Or if your kids are looking for a new hobby this summer, take them to Games Workshop where they can learn how to take part in epic battle sequences meticulously laid out on tabletop fantasy boards.
If you’re thinking about booking a last-minute holiday head to Travelbag, which offer trips to a number of family destinations, and don’t forget to stop off at TK Maxx to pick up some all-new travel luggage to take with you. And for great deals on summer essentials and to stock up on sun cream, travel toiletries and more visit Boots and Savers.
Grab a bite to eat
Fancy a meal that doesn’t require any cooking and cleaning? If so, take a visit to Carluccio’s for an Italian-style breakfast, lunch or dinner, with kids’ portions available any time of day. Or if French cuisine is more your family’s style, take a seat at Côte Brasserie, where classic bistro food comes in kid-friendly sizes.
There’s also our luxurious independent restaurant Esabella’s, which provides a classic set menu for kids that lets them choose from staples such as cod and chips, cheeseburgers and pasta.
Things to do
Bring the family along to Ping Pong Parlour on Mill Lane for a free game of table tennis
or if you’re looking for somewhere to take the younger children, there’s Play Lane, our café and a role-play centre for kids where they can let their imaginations go wild. And don’t forget our playground area in the middle of Mell Square just by Dunelm and HMV!
