Record Breaking Results for Solihull’s Visitor Economy!

The West Midlands Growth Company, in collaboration with the independent tourism research organization Global Tourism Solutions, recently published their annual economic report. The findings reveal remarkable progress in Solihull’s visitor economy, with improvements across all areas of tourism.
As of 2023, Solihull’s visitor economy is valued at an impressive £1.27 billion, representing a substantial 14.8% increase from the previous year.
This impressive growth is largely in in thanks to Solihull attracting over 6 million visitors in 2023, surpassing the 2022 figure by more than 200,000!
The success of 2023’s visitor economy has had a direct impact on employment, with full-time equivalent jobs supported by the direct and indirect tourism activities increasing by 9%.
looking to the future, Solihull is set for continued growth within the visitor economy. Earlier this year, the Solihull Destination Management Plan was unveiled—a comprehensive five-year strategy aimed at positioning the borough as an ideal tourist destination for both leisure and business travellers.
Solihull is also positioning itself as the UK’s E-sports hub, following the successful hosting of the international e-sports tournament ‘DOTA 2.’ The extensive media coverage surrounding this outstanding event is expected to open up new opportunities for the destination.
