Solihull Dining – So Tasty For Everyone

Being SO rich in culture in so many ways, Solihull’s dining scene is no different. With a variety of options to suit all styles there is plenty to choose from. You will be immersed in a plethora of culinary delights including Michelin star, classic cuisine, contemporary gastro pub grub and world dining – all within the Borough. There are options here to suit every tastebud and preference.

Michelin Star

Hampton Manor is the home of Michelin starred Peel’s Restaurant, inspired by their Victorian walled garden. Dating back to 1855, the Manor is surrounded by 45 acres of grounds and was originally built for Sir Robert Peel’s son. Inside, characterful original features blend with contemporary décor – the elegant dining room boasts beautiful plasterwork, oak panelling and hand-painted Chinoiserie wallpaper.  At its centre is a long table crafted from one of the estate’s oak trees.

The table is set for you to make memorable moments together. The tasting menu consists of local produce (the best from this country’s farms and fishermen including their own organically grown vegetables) and inspired by their walled garden, paired with wines from their award-winning list. The 7-course menu offers modern cooking with a classic heart and includes plenty of interesting options. Dishes are attractively presented, with real depth of flavour and texture, while the wine list presents lesser-known wines, including some natural and organic choices. The owners and their team have a wonderfully relaxed manner, as they have reimagined country house dining to bring a unique experience free of fuss, formality, and a real understated elegance. It is advised to allow 2-3 hours for the meal as this is much more than just food, it is an experience.

Toffs is a new entry to the 2022 Michelin Guide. When Rob Palmer was young, his nickname was ‘Toffs’, after a popular toffee by a company which shared his surname, and they serve a salted caramel toffee fudge with your coffee as a nod to the restaurant’s unusual moniker. The smart, industrial-style room is dominated by the open kitchen, with its 6-seater counter, and the focus is very much on the chefs, who deliver and explain dishes to diners. Creative cooking showcases both classical and modern techniques. There’s a good selection of wines by the glass and wine pairings are also available.
